Prishtina believes solution of Kosovo has been placed outside the UN

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Ramë Manaj said the meeting of the UN Security Council on Kosovo was very favourable because positive assessments about the progress in Kosovo were presented by both the UNMIK chief and Kosovo’s Prime Minister. He said the next step is the establishment of the EU mission in Kosovo. “The last session at the UN Security Council, once again, and I believe for the last time, proved that the solution to Kosovo’s political status should be sought outside the Security Council,” said Manaj.

Presidential spokesperson Xhavit Beqir commended the stance of the U.S. ambassador to the UN and said he believed the majority of other countries have realized that Kosovo status cannot remain hostage to the will of any other country.

Rada Trajkovic from the Serb National Council said she expects status of Kosovo to be provisional. This, according to her, can be seen from the results of the last meeting at the Security Council. “This would enable the territory of Kosovo to gain a certain status which would not be definitive but would be monitored,” she said, not explaining what this ‘provisional status’ would look like.
