European Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn declared that the European Union was ready to send a civil mission in Kosovo and to assume the responsibility for the situation in the region.

Olli Rehn had declared for The Economist that the defining of the status of Kosovo should be accomplished by a careful and well coordinated process led by the EU. He underlined that the EU was ready to assume the responsibility for the situation in Kosovo and was dedicated to the solution of this matter in the lines of a clear European perspective for the whole region.
