Bulgaria to recognize Kosovo
Kalfin motivated his decision – led by the principle for need of stability in the region as well as out of solidarity with our partners in the EU.
Meanwhile at a press conference in Brussels, the Slovenian foreign minister Dimitrii Rupel, the EU High commissioner on foreign policy Havier Solana and the EU commissioner on enlargement Oli Renn emphasized that every country should take its own decision whether to recognize Kosovo or not.
According to minister Kalfin, Bulgaria does not accept neither the “freezing” of the Kosovo conflict, nor the its diffusion.
We appeal to the authorities in Pristina, Kosovo’s neighboring countries and the whole international community to oppose decisively every attempt for escalating the tension. Bulgaria will decisively oppose any such attempt, said also Kalfin.
In conclusion the Bulgarian foreign minister stressed that the case of Kosovo was a unique one and could not be used as a precedent in any other case. It stems from the demise of Former Yugoslavia and from the long period of governance of the international community.
