Italy will recognise Kosovo
Italy will recognise Kosovo
Italy will recognise Kosovo "after the approval in Parliament, expected on Wednesday". FM Massimo D'Alema announced this, specifying that this choice doesn't mean that the actual government is not able to take the decision. "It can do so from a legal viewpoint, and the decision corresponds with the will of the majority of Parliament". In Brussels for the meeting of EU Foreign Ministers, Massimo D'Alema reminded that Kosovo was already on the agenda on February 6, "and many those who protested today were not aware of that". The minister reminded that he has announced his intention to recognise Kosovo in Parliament explaining "that there will be no vote because that isn't the case in a government issue". "We have to hurry the current affairs" the minister concluded "today there is an issue that can't wait to the elections and we take our responsibility. We have the authorisation of cabinet" he added "with the only exception of Minister Paolo Ferrero".
