Ireland recognizes Kosovo
DUBLIN - Ireland has become the latest country to recognize the political independence of Kosovo.
Foreign Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern says the entire Cabinet has voted to accept the Feb. 17 decision of the Kosovan parliament to declare independence from Serbia. He says Ireland's decision should not be viewed as "an act of hostility toward Serbia."

Ireland joins the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Belgium, Latvia, Estonia, Luxembourg, Australia and Turkey in extending recognition to the breakaway republic.
