Stockholm - Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt is to visit Kosovo this weekend just days after Sweden recognized the breakaway Serb province, the Swedish Foreign Ministry said Thursday. The visit Saturday makes Bildt one of the first ranking diplomats to visit there since it declared its independence February 17.

Bildt was due to meet with Prime Minister Hashim Thaci and President Fatmir Sejdiu in Pristina as well as officials from the UN administration (UNMIK) and European Union.

Serbia has recalled its ambassador from Stockholm to protest the decision Tuesday to recognize Kosovo.

Finland was Friday slated to recognize Kosovo.
