UNMIK in an independent Kosovo
UNMIK in an independent Kosovo
The remaining in force of resolution 1244 keeps UNMIK in Kosovo, throwing into question the realization of the transition according to Ahtisaari’s package.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon confirmed yesterday to the international media that 1244 remains in force and that UNMIK will continue to work based on 1244, focusing especially on security for minorities, while the Kosovo Government still does not have a clear position.

Ban Ki-moon preferred not to comment on the independence of Kosovo, but expressed clearly that Kosovo is a unique case in the world.
