“During this year, important events have occurred. Kosovo’s independence is an important event for the stability of the entire region,” the paper quotes EU high Representative Javier Solana as saying, following his meeting with Albania’s Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha, whose country is the first one in the Balkans to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

Asked if other countries in the region should follow in the steps of Albania or those of Serbia, Solana said that he had discussed this issue with the leaders of the countries in the region. “I suggested for them to follow the EU model,” Solana said.
