President of the Republic of Kosovo, Fatmir Sejdiu, received a letter yesterday from Jean Pastorelli, advisor on Foreign Relations of the Government of Monaco, in which he announces that the Principality of Monaco recognizes Republic of Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state.

In the letter sent to Sejdiu, among others is stated: "Referring to the letter which you had sent me on 17 February, 2008, I have the pleasure to send you my congratulations on the occasion of independence for your country. Also, I am happy to announce that the Principality of Monaco beginning with today recognizes Republic of Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state."
