He says that if his party was not in a coalition with Kostunica's Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), war would break out in Kosovo and Serbia's further ties with the European Union would be cut off.
"I am sure it is good that we were part of the government, because we have seen what DSS is capable of doing to Serbia. I am convinced we have prevented crucial things from taking place: breaking off of further ties with the EU and the clear scenario that conflict would break out in Kosovo which would escalate and create a Beirut out of it, causing unforseeable consequences", said Sutanovac for 'Vecernje Novosti, Serbia's daily.
According to Sutanovac, there have existed ideas for a military intervention in Kosovo, that is why certain people are mad at him. "Someone wanted to help Kosovo Serbs by sending them arms and ammunition. I am not surprised by Marko Jaksic's big dissapointment who stated: 'perhaps you didn't expect Sutanovac to give you weapons'", said Serbian defense minister Dragan Sutanovac.

The KLA/UCK did not have the resources to face the Serbian paramilitary that is why, the Serbs decided to attack civilians (perticullarly Albanian woman, children and the elderly). This was not a war against the KLA it was a war aginst innocent civilians who yes your right, they were wiped out because unfortunetly children cannot protect themselves. The albanians and KLA never had the courage to face Serbian forces. And the ones that did, were always wiped out! Even when the Serbs were vastly outnumbered by terrorists and bombed by NATO, they still managed to elliminate the KLA terrorists on all fronts. The only thing the Brave KLA could do was kill elderly men and women. You little cowards have so much to be proud of. Congratulations! |

However, the majority of the Serbian paramilitary forces were having way too much fun slaughtering women and children and ditching entire families in mass graves and roadside ditches to actually fight with other men. Which again, is why the KLA was formed in the first place. Here's an idea guy, instead of blaming Serbia's loss of Kosovo on the Albanians and Americans and Nato and etc. etc. etc. Blame yourself, blame your people that voted for a madman who wanted to ethnically cleanse the Balkans and then blame yourself again for supporting him and his carnage. You lost Kosovo because of your own choices, the moment your government decided to strip autonomy, fired hundreds of thousands of Albanians and began importing Bosnian Serbs into Kosovo you should have known that the Albanians were going to be upset. |

... The problem with Serbs is their lack of unity! They could have taken Kosovo, and wiped out the terrorist KLA in a matter of days or weeks. Way before the UN and NATO got around to doing anything about it. The failure of the Serbs to do so is because they wanted to appease everyone, yet in reality achieving nothing! Serbs need to be resolute about their actions. Destroy the terrorist Albanians and all the problems will be solved, and Europe will quickly forget about the stains made by the evil parasites and will eventually thank the Serbs for their brave actions. |

Arming the Serbs in Northern Mitrovica would not have provided a partition effect, but rather, would have proven disastrous for Serbia, as they would have been drawn into the conflict and suffered the consequences.
