Del Ponte: The Hunt
During a press briefing in The Hague today, spokesperson for ICTY, Olga Karavan, commented also on allegations made by former Chief Persecutor of ICTY, Carla Del Ponte.

In her new book “The Hunt: Me and the War Criminals,” Del Ponte writes that some 300 Serbs were kidnapped in Kosovo and transported to northern Albania where their organs were removed and sold to wealthy patients around the world.

According to Karavan, ICTY together with UNMIK and the Albanian authorities conducted a preliminary investigation into the matter and visited a site in northern Albania in connection with the allegations.

“No reliable evidence had been obtained to substantiate the allegations,” stated Karavan.

Florence Hartmann, former spokesperson of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY), told the Swiss media that the claims made by Del Ponte are “irresponsible” and “undignified.”
Hartmann says that Del Ponte with a mix of rumors and facts strengthens only the confusion surrounding the actual events and encourages historical revisionists.

Organ harvesting allegations made by Del Ponte have already been rejected by Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Nekibe Kelmendi. Kelmendi characterized the allegations last week as “pure fabrications made by Del Ponte or perhaps Serbia itself.”

Carla Del Ponte, currently Swiss ambassador to Argentina, is prohibited from promoting her book, but her co-author, Chuck Sudetic, has given an interview to the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Sudentic is quoted as saying: “The book will be abused for propaganda” and “journalists and politicians have made comments without having read the book.”

What was she thinking by the way?? She is sick and crazy really.. I personaly think that she has offended us (the Albanian people) very much and she will need to apologize to Albanians for that. She has also offended very much the Swis nation as they will be ashamed of her as their citizen, someone who had the privilege of the great position in Hague and as the ambasador as well. It is so sad that she was manipulated so badly. I would like to read the book very much, just to know exactly what she said. When talking about the facts, she should have known that facts are what count, not lies as she was the main Hague guru. Why she didin't bring up those crimes "according to her" by the time she was working in Hague? They could have done investigations? Find proofs if any?? No, she was waiting to write them in the book, or maybe someone else wrote the book for her, made up all this lies and she has only published that...this is ridicoulus. I personaly think she is crazy.

We know about Mr. Chuck Sudetic is a very pro-Serb propagandist eversince the Bosnia War. I remember his writtings about favouring the Serbs in Bosnia either through Bosnet, whose one of the owner was myself, or different publications.
Also his writtings on soc.culture.albanian, soc.culture.serbia and other forums he wrotte heavily pro-serbian, to the degree that made me think he's a one sided, maniacal person who is full of hate of all non-serbs.
Chuck, baby, you've come a long way, baby!!!
This tells me that Serbia has gotten to Ms Del Ponte. As a result of that is the non-capturing of Mladic and Karadjic.
Lets hope that new people in charge of ITCY will do the right thing.

This is the first time i have ever seen public disagreement between the ICTY AND miss florence hartmann (whom i had the questionable pleasure of meeting for all of about 4 seconds) versus the "chief persecutor" (still not sure if that was meant ironically...) and so the mystery deepens. why bring it all out now, with these old rumors and innuendo, guaranteed to spread yet another layer of hate and mistrust in the balkans? why, why, why? it is a question i continue to ask myself. if she (and her co-author) thought this story "had legs" shouldn't it have been pursued earlier, and differently, not just in some tell-all-book? was it REAlly fear of the albanian mafia that kept them and others silent for so long? something feels very, very wrong...

and here is my personal take on the book; i do plan on reading it, hopefully cover to cover. but i will NOT pay one cent, not one red cent for the privilege. i shall simply go to my local Borders, and spend many hours reading, and then i will file my report :)

peace, chvala and felemendarit!
