Germany to help in minority women trafficking and violence awareness PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 26 April 2008

ImageGerman Embassy in Prishtina has announced it will assist in two education projects for Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo.

These projects will educate women and bring awareness about human trafficking and sexual abuse in these communities, which are particularly vulnerable to these risks. German Government will support the program with €13,000.

The projects will be conducted by Prosperity NGO which for the first time will specifically target the women of these communities on the matter of human trafficking and the risks involved.

The second project will deal with sexual abuse cases. It will advise them on the resources available to women in cases of sexual abuse or violence.

The three communities will receive this assistance from the German government as part of the Stability Pact.

Both projects will launch in Gjakova on Monday by the German Ambassador to Kosovo, Hans-Dieter Steinbach.

Lie: “Kosovo is a center of Albanian drug-smuggling.”

Truth: Kosovo is the most heavily-policed region in Europe. Serbs and their supporters who make this charge cannot cite indictments, trials, or sentences, much less any other serious data about alleged drug-dealing in Kosovo, aside from an occasional petty seizure of marijuana. The republic’s foreign supervisors have no incentive to ignore such activities, if they existed.

Apparently the German citizen is not very familiar with Geography. HIs comments are unfounded. How on earth could kosova without a border with afghanistan OR a direct port be responsible for so much heroin. It would have to get there through other countries which would somehow have to have incompetent police or be compliant in the trafficking. Unlike Albania the Kosova governmental structure has been deisigned and closely monitored by the UN and NATO and will maintain a presence. So, in fact for trafficking reasons it would be better to recognize the state and maintain a good relation in order to monitor drug trafficking in the region as it is the only cooperating friendly state in the area.

Agree with the drugs thing and that the people runnign the Kosovo institutions should not be in power - and I agree that Kosovo's independence should not have been recognised but you cannot tar all Albanians with the same brush, there are good and bad Kosovo Albanians just like in every country. Albanian gangsters in Europe have little to do with the majority of ordinary Albanians who just want to make themselves a decent living.

I find it hard to believe that any civilized person, let alone a nation can take Kosovo independence seriously?
As a German citizen, i am ashamed of my country and my government for recognizing this country!

The system is all WRONG!
There are so many other, far more IMPORTANT issues that Kosovo needs to address before it can even start thinking of independence.

I read that according to law enforcement agencies that are run by the UN, that Kosovo is the most important interim destination for opiates and heroin coming from Afghanistan!
It is believed that up to four or five tons of heroin is brought across Kosovo's borders every month!
The drug then reaches the EU countries through Albanian distribution rings.
(Rastislav Báchora, Notes from Southeastern Europe, 2008)
And that’s not all! According to Europol, ethnic Albanian organized crime groups now control 80 percent of heroin smuggling in some northern European countries, and 40 percent in Western Europe!!
This is INSANE!
Why has NOTHING happened to stop this illegal trade of drugs??
Why are criminals in-charge of this country???

I think it is FAR more important to stop the crime from this part of the world BEFORE you can start talking about independence.
I don’t know about you people, but as a European citizen, I don’t want my children to become innocent victims of these gangsters!
