Kosovo to get new passports
Kosovo to get new passports
In July Republic of Kosovo will start printing new passports and other personal documents that will replace those issued by UNMIK in the last nine years.

Kosovo Interior Minister, Zenun Pajaziti, in an interview for BBC stated that the documents being designed will have the highest security standards in the region. Kosovo Constitution allows the possession of two citizenships and those citizens that want to have two passports can do that if they can arrange for the second one.

Since 1999 Kosovo citizens have used passports of former-Yugoslavia – or its two later iterations of Serbia and Montenegro and finally Serbia - and travel documents issued by the UN mission. For the moment these documents will be recognized by about 40 countries that have also recognized the new country.
