EU treats Kosovo as a state
EU treats Kosovo as a state
On the second day of their visit to the European Parliament (EP), members of the Kosovo Assembly discussed in Brussels the prospects for economic and political development in Kosovo, rule of law and the pressing need to fight corruption.

Koha Ditore reports that the fierce reaction from Serbia to the fact that the Kosovo flag was placed in the working rooms of the EP were not successful and that the attempts by a Greek parliamentarian to try and avoid mention of attributes that make Kosovo a state also were not successful. As a result the meeting ended without the removal of the Kosovo flag and with a joint statement which does not single Kosovo out from other independent countries, the paper adds.

EP special envoy to Serbia, Jelko Kacin, said that the EP only puts up the UN flag to represent Kosovo in cases when Serbian officials are also present. “Now when we speak with Kosovo representatives, we deal with the Republic of Kosovo,” Kacin said.

Greece is the laughing stock of both NATO and the European Union.
Absolutely no one takes Greece seriously.

Only a balance of forces can insure a lasting PEACE and STABILITY in the BALKAN.
This can be achieved by, DISARMING SERBIA, or REARMING Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosova.
Russia in the past and present, continuously, persistently, tenaciously was/is supplying SERBIA, with a huge Arsenal of (State of the Art) Weapons. So Serbia is transformed in a “spearhead of a Slavic aggression that slowly but surely trend to move toward the West”.
Ironically U.S.A and EU are providing Serbia with billions of Dollars / Euros Aid, which is used by Serbian Military to take care for their Huge Military Arsenal.

Politicians nowadays are on a childs level when it comes to diplomacy and/or understanding... all I'm hearing is: "It's my toy! No, It's my toy... How dare you! Give me back my toy... wah-wah-wah!!!" Come on get real already, are these guys somewhat mentally retarded? Are they seriously thinking that Albanians can be put down just like that, do they really think that they are the only ones who have a right to live and choose their own paths to life?! Serbs have been granted much more than they have actually ever deserved after all they did to old Dardania and It's native people. There have been made oh so many accommodations towards Serbia and the Serbs living in Kosova, even from people who's families have been massacred and teared into parts... they have been granted and given many more privileges than any other minority has been ever given in this entire world... they get help from their own Serbian goverment, the Kosovarian goverment, Europe, the United States and on top of they even get whole airplaines, trucks and busses full of stuff from Russia, China, India and even from radical Islamic Nations they have always "seemed" to be so cloyed of. Now look what you get, boldly behaving people with absoloutly no respect towards others, full bellies pumped up with calories and all kinds of privileges one could ever wish for... this is the exacty reason why Europe has once again failed to denazify this dangerous russian invention named, Servia. That set out to form a somewhat southern branch of the slavic "family" which was non-existent and on top of that has failed misserably. What we are seeing now is only the aftermath and It seems like Servia has set out to destroy their own fragile nation or start another World War as they already did twice... glasshouses are dangerous inventions after all.

ok if this was being held in Greece than Greece can decide whether they want the Republic of Kosovas flag present or not. But it was not in Greece. So they can keep making pathetic atempts in demoralizing the stability of the EU too now, but it clearly is not working. Europe does not listen to Greece, it contains much greater and more respectable countries to make better decisions for the ommunity at large.

Sorry Greece I guess its time you woke up from your DREAM and entered the REALITY with Kosova being the worlds NEWBORN baby:)

The behavior of the Greek establishment towards their neighbours, beginning with complicity with Serb mass murder and extermination in Bosnia-Herzegovina, has been a disgrace. Liberal Greek journalist Takis Michas wrote a book, "Unholy alliance" on the issue, showing that Milošević had more support among the Greeks than among the Serbs.
http://www.tamu.edu/upress/BOOKS/2002/michas.htm

"Greece’s politics since World War II have involved a series of catastrophes that collectively resemble a train-wreck: the murderous persecution of leftists that provoked the Greek Civil War; the fascist Regime of the Colonels of 1967-74; the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, provoked by the Colonels’ policies; support for Milošević's Serbia in the Wars of Yugoslav Succession; and the continued persecution of the Republic of Macedonia.
All these disasters originate from the fact that right-wing nationalists took power in Greece after the Nazis vacated the country in late 1944. These nationalists had themselves either collaborated with the Nazis, or at best had played a negligible role in the resistance compared to that of the left-wing National Liberation Front..."

Soon or later, the time will come and Greece, Spain, Slovakia, Romania and Cyprus have to make a decision. Stay with G8 or go with BRIC.

Too bad the European Parliament works on a 2/3 majority basis, and 75% of the EU has recognized. :D

Greece, Spain, Slovakia, Romania and Cyprus can waste their ink on protests though, the EP will be more than happy to throw them in the trash bin.

The presence of the Kosovo flag at a meeting in the European Parliament on Wednesday and Thursday caused a wave of protests, with a Greek MEP, Podimata called Pack's view "absolutely wrong" and dubbed the act "scandalous" and "totally illegal".
Greek Socialist MEP Anni Podimata warned at the beginning of the meeting that "it is not our competence to decide on the legal status of Kosovo as an independent state"
She said she planned to raise the issue immediately with the Greek government as well as to issue a formal protest to the president of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pottering.

In Belgrade, Serbia's Foreign Ministry imediately issued a formal protest to the European Parliament, with Serbia's Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic calling the move "absolutely unacceptable".
"This is an absolutely inadmissible display. Kosovo is not an independent state, the EU has not recognized Kosovo, but a certain number of countries unfortunately have,"

Those representatives who have not recognized the illegally declared independence of Kosovo. were in constant communication with MEPs from Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Slovakia, and Romania, who have also submitted their protests.
