The five leaders of the municipalities inhabited mainly by Serbs have remained without legitimacy and UNMIK is not expected to take any decision on extending their mandates, as announced earlier, report Kosovo daily newspapers.

 

UNMIK spokesperson Alexander Ivanko confirmed on Thursday that the SRSG will not take any decision regarding the extension of the mandates of these five municipality leaders and will not even deal with this issue.

“UNMIK will not take any decision on this issue. This responsibility lies with someone else and you should find out yourself who has this responsibility,” Ivanko is quoted as saying. In addition, he said the decision not to deal with this issue was taken after consultations with New York.
