Partition and status of Kosovo cannot be negotiated

Former United Nations special envoy for Kosovo status negotiations Albert Rohan in an interview for Radio Free Europe said that he supports the idea of re-starting talks between Prishtina and Belgrade, but only on practical issues.

“I very much hope for such dialogue, but a lot depends on the new government in Belgrade. These are discussions on practical issues, having in mind that Kosovo and Serbia are neighboring countries, they have to discuss and deal with as number of agreements,” Express daily quotes Rohan.

Rohan emphasized that the option of partition was ruled out by Belgrade, Prishtina and the international community.

Also, Kosovo authorities have sworn their position vis-à-vis Ahtisaari’s plan, stating on Monday that they do not plan to hold discussions on anything outside of the Ahtisaari package.

“We will undertake all necessary actions…for fulfilling all promises in accordance with the Ahtisaari proposal, but we will not accept any action that is against that,” Sejdiu is quoted, after meeting with the International Steering Group in Prishtina.
