The students of the Republic of Kosovo (Kosova) who are participating in the Balkan Case Challenge (BCC), an academic competition in Vienna, Austria, have excelled by winning all the first awards out of 142 students representing 12 different countries.

 

The Balkan Case Challenge has adopted the case study method developed as a learning tool at Harvard University in order to promote its use as a modern, practice-oriented method of learning in various fields of study such as law, business, computer science and model United Nations. 

 

The BCC aims at opening up opportunities and new perspectives for excellent students from South-Eastern Europe through strengthening links between higher education and employment and by the provision of concrete job opportunities. In addition, the BCC contributes to an increased awareness of the potential of South-Eastern Europe as an integral part of a united Europe.

The representative of the World University Service-Austria, Bud Dedaj said he is “very pleased with the successful achievement of the Kosovar students” and added that “Kosovar students received over 50% of all awards in this competition."

The dean of the University of Prishtina, Enver Hasani, pleased with the academic achievements in this competition, thanking all supporters, particularly the government of Austria, added that "these students certainly are an exemplary to their follow students" and promised further academic and scientific cooperation from the University of Prishtina.

 

The eleven Kosovar students who participated in the BCC competition proved that Kosovo has qualitative capacity in the field of scholarly knowledge and science to compete with and surpass their colleagues from the region, stated Hasani. “Students that participated in the competition assertively are role models to their fellow students and encouragement for others to study harder.”

With its focus on South-Eastern Europe, the BCC addresses excellent students, universities, companies, institutions and individuals interested in supporting the goals of the BCC. The competition is a project of WUS Austria, financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation and supported by numerous companies and institutions.

Participating countries were Austria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.
