The International Seminar on the Albanian Language, Literature and Culture to take place in Prishtina from August 18 thru 19, will gather 500 people from over 90 countries to present research work on albanology.
This event will also commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Congress of Manastir - the historical event that led to standardization of the Albanian alphabet, the 70th anniversary of the death of the famous Albanian poet, Milosh Gjergj Nikolla-Migjeni and the 100th anniversary of the birth of the greatest Albanian philologist, Eqrem Cabej.
Albanian, as one of the oldest languages in the world, will be the focus of discussion at the 27th seminar where many philologists from Europe, Asia, North America and Australia will be speaking. The International Seminar on the Albanian language, Literature and Culture, also marks two important scientific meetings with thesis on "Albanian language in the global mainstream" and "Kosovo and Albanian Literature." Many new books and scientific pieces will be promoted during the event. Another important lecture will be "Albanian language in the journalistic world," one of the hotly debated topics in the national media forums in recent years. There will be other social and cultural characteristics discussed at the seminar, including lectures and introductions on the recent archeological discoveries of the ancient ruins found in Kosovo and Albania in recent years. The main purpose of this seminar is familiarity with albanologists worldwide, advancement of the Albanian language in the linguistic world and promotion of the Albanian literature and culture in the world civilization. The seminar was founded in 1974 by the University of Prishtina. In 1989 thru 1999, due to the repressive policies of Serbia, the seminar was forced to cease its activities starting again in 2000. The seminar is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Kosovo.

... Albanian is only one dialect of the Illyrian language. Illyrian is one of the oldest languages in the world. I think the International Seminar on the Albanian language first would fix this problem and after, care for the dialects of the Illyrian language. Gege, Toske, Dardanian, Çams etc. |
