Despite of Russian government opposition to Kosovo independence, the young Kosovar flute player, Marigona Qerkezi, has performed in a major festival in Moscow as representative of the youngest state in the world, the Republic of Kosovo.

The Moscow Meets Friends festival whose artistic board brings together every year in the Russian capital the most talented artists from the entire globe, has not hesitated to include into its artistic program among other countries’ flags, that of the Republic of Kosovo.

The merits of being able to attend this artistic event in Moscow are the artistic accomplishments of Marigona during her past artistic performances around the world in which she has received many awards for her unique flute performance.

During her performance, Qerkezi stayed in Moscow for a few days, having a chance to visit some of the historical museums of the city. In an interview given for the Express Live Summer TV program, Marigona described Moscow as "a beautiful city with a fascinating history."

The performance of this amazingly talented Kosovar artist in Russia has been sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Kosovo and the Municipality of Prishtina.

Marigona Qerkezi is a student at the renowned Music High School "Prenk Jakova" in Prishtina, Kosovo. In 2007, Marigona received the best artistic performance award at the Young Musicians Competition "Ars Kosova" in Prishtina. Besides playing flute, Marigona has also passion and talent for artistic singing.
