 Prizreni With carpeting photos of Prizren and a monologue recited by the actress Gresa Pallaska, the Seventh Edition of the International Short, Documentary and Animated Film Festival Dokufest has began in Kosovo.
The choreography created by artist Maksut Vezgishi - Maksi unveiled this original work for the guests, during which he presented pictures of handcrafted carpets from the city of Prizren in southwestern Kosovo.
Meanwhile, the prime minister of Kosovo said that this festival hosted in Kosovo, presents the Republic of Kosovo as a democratic and prosperous country before the world.
"Dokufest is not only a festival of our country, but it also represents the artistic culture of the world hosted in Kosovo. Therefore, we will continue to support such festivals that present the genuinely positive image of Kosovo," said Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi.
Ramadan Muja, the mayor of the Prizren Municipality, has called Prizren the capital of art and culture. "Prizren with its cultural and artistic events is becoming the best ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the world," said Muja.
EU Ambassador Peter Feith said that the festival proves best Kosovo as a country with an open and democratic society. "Photographs shown in the background prove that we are dealing with an interesting history which they best can tell. A picture sometimes is worth more than a thousand words," said Feith.
Peter Heith emphasized "I am very happy to be at Dokufest. During the last seven years the organizers have established a truly European festival that promotes tolerance, cultural diversity and freedom of expression. This festival has shown the world that which we already know - that Kosovo has much to offer on creativity and artistic contribution on the European cultural stage."
Kosovo Culture Minister, Valton Beqiri, said that Dokufest enriches the image of the youngest country in the world. "Prizren is the emblem of our civic culture. Without doubt, a part of this culture is a cultural event such as Dokufest, which with its acting spirit, for a short time, has turned Prizren into an important international station of the seventh art," said Beqiri.
The first movie shown was Life.Support.Music, directed by Eric Daniel Metzgar. This movie is an independent work narrating regeneration, family and music. It follows the life of the guitarist Jaso Crigler, who lives in New York, who suddenly gets sick with hematoma during his performance in a music concert in Manhattan.
