Kosovo retirement law within year |

This commitment was pledged by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hajredin Kuçi, after an hour and a half meeting with the representatives of the Kosovo Retirement Association, lead by their president Ilaz Kurteshi.
"We had a fruitful meeting with the Kosovo Retirement Association and we are aware of the situation and obligations that the Kosovo Government has towards the retirees who have dedicated their lives to the building of Kosovo state," said Hajredin Kuçi.
According to Kuçi, Kosovo Government has pledged to proceed with ratifying the Retirement Bill as soon as possible, at the latest by the end of the year, asserting that the position of retirees will be appropriate according to standard European Union laws. He also said that government will work closely with Kosovo Retirement Association in the process of amending the Retirement Bill.
"In the meantime, there will be a full implementation of the memorandum signed between the prime minister and president of the Kosovo Retirement Association. The memorandum is anticipated to give retirees or senior citizens special transportation fares, healthcare and other important aspects of their daily needs," said Kuçi.
The deputy prime minister also stressed the difficulties in the registration of all senior citizens who quality for special retirement benefits due to lack of proper documentation which has been destroyed during the war; however the government is working on establishing a flexible policy that is acceptable to all parties on this matter.
Meanwhile, the President of Kosovo Retirement Association, Ilaz Kurteshi, emphasized that the meeting will weigh great importance towards resolving all issues for retirees. "We are confident that the government is committed to ratifying the Retirment Bill which will resolve all issues of the senior citizens in Kosovo."
