Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Kosovo announced that on 12 August International Softball Federation (ISF) has recognized and accepted with full membership privileges the Kosovo Softball Federation.

 

In recent years, softball has become quite popular in Kosovo. Currently there is a male and a female league. Due to high increase of interest among teenage Kosovars to play this popular American sport now played across the world, Kosovo Softball Federation is going to establish high school and middle school leagues as well.

National Kosovar federations recognized so far by their respective international governing bodies are International Table Tennis Federation, International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA), International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and in the process of receiving other recognitions. Kosovo is a member with limited privileges of the International Handball Federation. The country needs five full sport international federation memberships to join the International Olympic Committee.
