A young Kosovo boy who had experienced almost deadly burns is being cured at the Shriner Hospital in Cincinnati, USA. His hands are almost healed and he is now expected to return to Kosovo.

 

Thanks to the work that the doctors of Shriner Hospital have done, Ermal, who is only two years and a half, has recently begun using his hand. His healing in the United States has been made possible by the organization Children without Borders.

Ermal had put his hands in a vessel full of hot water experiencing third degree burns. His mother Xhezide carried him to the nearest hospital but he needed further help.

Through the help of American volunteers in Kosovo the family was put in contact with Children without Borders enabling Ermal's hands’ reconstruction at the American hospital.

Sonny and Sherry Rader, the couple that hosts the boy and his mother, say "it was the most memorable thing we have ever done. We knew it was the right thing. We knew it would be tough, but sincerely, we won more than we could offer in this case," said Sherry.

While doctors at Shriners healed the boy, his mother took English lessons so by the time they return she can personally thank the hosts.

Ermal has gone through seven operations. Eighth operation is scheduled for Friday, and he is expected to return to Kosovo next week.

His return was put into question due to passport problem. But with the help of US Congressman Steve Chabot their passports are on their way.
