KFOR commander, French Lieutenant General Xavier Bout de Marnhac met yesterday in a farewell meeting with Kosovo Security Force Minister, Fehmi Mujota, and the commander of the Kosovo Protection Corps, Lieutenant General Sylejman Selimi.
"This was my last opportunity to meet with all the KPC commanders to
say goodbye to them. As you know I will leave Kosovo in two weeks and
this has been one of the many farewell meetings I hope I will be having
during this time," said Marnhac.
Whereas Kosovo Protection Corps commander, Lieutenant General
Sylejman Selimi said: "together we have been through an extremely
important period for Kosovo, through the process of the definition of
its status. During this process we have all been dedicated to serving
Kosovo citizens with all our capacities, all our possibilities."
Speaking on the new Kosovo Security Force, General Selimi said
that the first units of Kosovo’s new army will be created this year.
De Marnhac will be replaced at the helm of NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR) by the Italian Lieutenant General Giuseppe Emilio Gay.
