Deputy Minister Dedaj stressed that after assessing the current economic situation in Mitrovica Municipality, his ministry has decided to place Mitrovica as top priority when deciding on social development projects. “Therefore, this year, we have allotted 600,000 euro to build a public retirement home where the retirees and the elderly who are most in need will benefit at first,” said Dedaj

The Mayor of Mitrovica Municipality, Bajram Rexhepi, stressed that the interest of Dedaj to resolve many social problems in Mitrovica will be appreciated by the municipality and citizens, adding that budget of Mitrovica Municipality is also committed to take over its obligations in the project.

Mayor Rexhepi also informed Deputy Minister Dedaj that his Mitrovica Municipality has allotted 14 apartments for the war veterans, citizens who live in difficult economic conditions, and the ethnically cleansed Albanian families from the northern section of Mitrovica. Rexhepi expressed his commitment to continue cooperating with Ministry of Work and Social Wellbeing of the Republic of Kosovo to solve some of the current residential issues.

Whereas the chairman of the Mitrovica Department of Administration, Ismail Smaka, said that certain municipal services are ready to start to assess the technical issues of the project which would open the door for the realization of the retirement home. Municipality of Mitrovica plans to allow 27 acres for this building.
