Malta recognizes Kosovo PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 22 August 2008
ImageMalta officially recognized Republic of Kosovo as an independent state yesterday, becoming this way the 21st EU state and 46th overall to recognize it.

The news was announced by the Department of Information of Malta.

Malta's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tonio Borg, said that Kosovo independence is recognized because there is no other alternative considering the events in the last ten years.

Borg has sent letters to the President of Kosovo Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci to let them know of the decision, says Times of Malta.
