After the meeting Trajkoviq stated that the cooperation with EULEX is important, above all, for Serbs themselves. She hopes that she "will not be accused by Belgrade for this statement."
Trajkoviq accused Serb leaders in the north of Kosovo for "fake nationalism." She said that they falsely present themselves as great Serbs while engaging in criminality and that their only goal is the abuse of funds dedicated to the Kosovo Serbs, report Serb media. "I have experience from cooperation with the UN Mission since 1999, and this is why I have decided to meet with Kermabon, because they can help to put law and order in the whole Kosovo territory," said Trajkoviq. Whereas chief of the EU mission, de Kermabon, said that the fight against organized crime is the biggest hurdle for EULEX. He added that it is in the interest of Belgrade for people to have access to police, justice and customs. Rada Trajkoviq was an early ally of Slobodan Milosevic in Kosovo later switching sides along with the more liberal leaders in the Serb Orthodox Church after the setback suffered by Serb people in the wars in Bosnia and Croatia. Belgrade is encouraging Kosovo Serbs to boycott the EU mission in Kosovo. For now northern Kosovo Serbs seem to be taking them on the offer.

... sebanau: """A principled nationalist can recognize the national rights of others as well, and for the same reasons as his own. """ Gellner invokes the expression 'sacro egoismo', which he takes from the italian fascists, to note that what would, for the sake of coherence, be a position of principle of those who believe in nationalism, very seldom occurs. in the case of the serbs even less because most serbs consider albanians inferior (racism). but at least it's encouraging to see breaches opening among the serbs who live in the area of mitrovica and those in the south. I hope a sustainable modus vivendi may be reached... |

... She is right, those Serbs in Mitrovica are not real nationalists. A principled nationalist can recognize the national rights of others as well, and for the same reasons as his own. The very meaning of rights is that my rights are not meant to bother you as yours are not supposed to harm me, that we all have rights as a condition of our common good. This means that those Serbs who broke away from the Ottoman empire but refuse to recognize the independence of Kosovo are just pseudo-nationalists. |
