Serb Education Minister Zarko Obradovic has repeated the stance of the Serb Government not to recognize diplomas issued by the University of Prishtina, which are endorsed by the UN Mission in Kosovo.

"This is a decision of the Serb government, for which there are many reasons," said Obradovic for Serb media, without specifying what those are.

Many of the Albanians in South Serbia are university trained in nearby Kosovo, which will pose significant problems for their employment in a region which already has the highest levels of unemployment in Serbia.

Commenting on the declarations of the only ethnic-Albanian deputy at Serbia’s Parliament, Riza Halimi, who has strongly objected to these decisions by the Serb government, Obradovic responded curtly: "If Riza Halimi doesn't like this decision - it's his problem."

Days ago Halimi stated that the latest decision of Serb government to not recognize diplomas issued by the University of Prishtina and the shutting down of the local Presheva television have been planned earlier to raise the political temperature in Presheva.
