![]() In an interview for BBC Albanian, President Sejdiu said that the meeting with the Serb leader could be focused only on neighborly matters between two sovereign states, and excludes any possibility for reopening the status issue. Sejdiu said that UNMIK is not an intermediating partner, but according to him UNMIK along with EULEX could ease discussions and lower tensions in the relations between Prishtina and Belgrade. Kosovo president stated that Serbia cannot prevent different countries from recognizing the reality in Kosovo and offered the conviction that the Serb government initiative to consider the legality of the proclamation of independence of Kosovo will not yield any result. President denied parallels between Kosovo and South Ossetia and Abkhazia, citing Kosovo as a special case and saying that Russia has entered a complicated situation. Sejdiu denied any possibility of confrontation with Serbia over the north of Kosovo, which he called an integral part of Kosovo. On Tuesday Sejdiu decreed the first diplomatic representatives of Kosovo to ten world countries.

... Nowhere is it written that Kosovo needed an UNSC resolution to declare independence. A clever move on the part of President Sejdiu. |

... why do all these people reference some UN and International Law articles .... and how things should work. Where were they when the wars and killings by Serbs were happening.. ... where were all those laws when crimes against Albanians, Bosnians, Croatians and Slovenes were happening... |

... wow... it must idealic for fatmir sejdiu sitting on his american made ivory tower. according to roderick moore, us ambasodor to montenegro "in line with Article 25 of the UN Charter, only Security Council decisions are binding for all members of the world organisation.". this would imply that as of yet, and officially within the un kosovo is not a soverign state. as such it would seem somewhat foolish of the serbian state to accept a meeting on the terms proposed by sejdiu. furthermore it seems childish to keep exclaiming that kosovo is a soverign state. it ring familiar with an argument one might have with a toddler "the ball is blue, no, the ball is red, etc..." maybe one day things will be different, but as it stands currently, and what the immediate future could bring, kosovo's desire for independence is frozen. without the approval of the security council it will officially remain a part of serbia. |
