"In a cordial meeting with the Director-General of Eurostat, Walter Radermacher, in Luxemburg, we have been promised to receive full support in the [population] registration process. This assistance will not only be logistical, but also offer supplies in the amount of 3 million euros,” said Arsim Bajrami, Minister of Public Services of the Republic of Kosovo, during an interview for Radio Kosova
Minister Bajrami, during his visit to Luxemburg said that he held important meetings with officials of Eurostat and its director Walter Radermacher, with whom he discussed issues regarding the preparation for the registration of Kosovar population, which is planned to happen sometime in 2009.
Eurostat will be assisting Kosovar institutions during the registration of population to assure process is conducted with high European standards, and the results are certified by this European Union institution.
"We have arranged intensive preparatory activities with Eurostat, which will support the process of registration, not only offering professional technical assistance but also pledging to give considerable financial assistance to realize this important registration process for Kosovo,” said Bajrami.
Meanwhile, speaking of the budget allotted for the registration of population of the Republic of Kosovo, Minister Bajrami explained that "the Government of Kosovo has allotted 3 million euros as well. It is very important that Eurostat in cooperation with the European Commission is committed to offering full support to Kosovo institutions as they will conduct the registration of the population."
Bajrami also reiterated that the Serb minority who are citizens of the Republic of Kosovo will be included in the registration process.
