Australia to assist Kosovo
Australian Ambassador to Vienna, Peter Shannon, after the meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, said that Australia is working on a project for establishing strong economic ties with the Republic of Kosovo and added that this will encourage Australian companies to invest in Kosovo. Ambassador Shannon also expressed interest in having the two countries cooperate in the education field.

"I would like to establish contacts between the Parliaments of Australia and Kosovo, because parliamentarians are closer to people and understand their needs. Hence, these are my priorities which I will relay to the Government of Australia informing them for the amazing achievements in Kosovo," said Ambassador Shannon.

Kosovar Prime Minister Thaçi assured Ambassador Shannon that the Republic of Kosovo is interested in furthering its relations with Australia. Thaçi also informed the Australian Ambassador about Kosovo's achievements and its commitment to build a powerful democratic state of Kosovo.

Australia is among the first countries that has recognized Kosovo independence.
