President of Albania Bamir Topi met on Monday an official delegation led by the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament and former Foreign Minister, Gianfranco Fini.

During the meeting Topi stressed the improved stability situation in the Balkans after the resolution of the Kosovo status, saying that finally the whole region is working towards integration in the big European family.

Expressing his gratitude for Italy's continuous support for Albania, President Topi underlined the fact that bilateral relations between the two countries are in a natural terrain of cooperation, whereas Fini said that Albanian is geographically and spiritually connected to Italy, an important economic partner and an ally for security and cooperation.

Fini awarded President Topi the "Golden Medal" of the Chamber of Deputies of the Republic of Italy.

Dušan Pavlović, lecturer in political science from Belgrade:

"nationalism is still very strong in Serbia, but the sources of the nationalist policy and nationalism are gradually drying up. There have been three dominant symbolic sources during the past twenty years or so in Serbia that have fed nationalism. These are relations with the neighbouring states which have Serb populations, attitudes towards the Hague tribunal and, particularly, Kosovo. All these symbolic sources have been drying up since the proclamation of Kosovo’s independence. One can no longer appeal to them as an instrument of nationalist policy."

Almost daily we are seeing huge improvements in Albania's relations with other nations. Despite there still being a level of corruption and political shenanigans, which will continue until the last of the former communists are replaced, Albania, the land were i spent the happiest eight years of my life, is seeing the 'light at the end of the tunnel' getting closer.
Kosova is now free. Soon Albanians will be able to travel where they want as we Brits do. God Bless Albania!
