Kosovo religious and political leaders congratulated Kosovo Muslim believers on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, or Grand Bajram as it is known locally.

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Fatmir Sejdiu, in his message he states: "We express our respect for all those that through fasting have passed a month in adoration of God, in the sign of goodness and humility, of sacrifice and being close to one another."

"Repeating our permanent gratitude for our friends, that were close to us in the worst hours of history, we stress our decisiveness to strengthen law and order in our state for the creation of a stable and peaceful environment, so that future generations can enjoy better conditions for life and prosperity in our dear fatherland," writes President Sejdiu, who has also sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Islamic Community in Kosovo, Naim Tërnava.

Prime Minister Thaçi said: "Kosovo citizens have always been known for humanitarian values, brotherhood and interethnic tolerance, proving themselves a society that respects the highest achievements of humanity. Civic unity, harmony and interethnic and interreligious tolerance are a treasure of Kosovo and a guarantee of our good perspective," writes PM Thaçi.

Meanwhile President of the Islamic Community in Kosovo, Naim Tërnava, after congratulating all Muslim believers in Kosovo, said, "This feast this year has double meaning, because it is for the first time being celebrated in the independent Kosovo. Eid al-Fitr unites us in solidarity, charity, understanding and care towards the poor, tolerance, closeness to God, closeness to family and society. Therefore, today we proudly celebrate Eid al-Fitr,” said Tërnava in his message to the Muslim believers.

Tell Mr. Ternava spending "vitra" for islam-pupils is not right! The situation in Kosovo is hard, nevertheless those who study islam are better off anyway, so spend the Vitra on the poor.

Why call it "Aid" and not "Bajram"? No one knows what "Aid" is in the region, whereas everyone celebrates "Bajram".
