Olli Rehn, European Union Commissioner for Enlargement will arrive on Wednesday in Kosovo.

The arrival is on the day when the General Assembly of the UN will debate the Serb initiative to request an opinion from the International Court of Justice on Kosovo's independence.

Analysts in Kosovo say the next couple of months will be crucial in determining what mechanism will be used for the process of integration of Kosovo into the European Union at a time when some EU countries have not recognized Kosovo.

Yesterday EU representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith said that it is a legitimate right of Serbia to request the court opinion, but not helpful for the moment. During a debate at the Foreign Policy Club in Prishtina, Feith said that Serbia could not count on integration into the EU while obstructing Kosovo.

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates visited Kosovo today at the beginning of a series of visits he is doing in the region and other parts of Europe. In Kosovo Gates visited the US contingent of KFOR troops and met briefly with Kosovo government officials. This is the highest US official to visit Kosovo since independence.
