Chief of Albania's diplomacy, Lulzim Basha, in a statement given for news agency INA, stressed that Kosovo independence is irreversible, adding that only 1/3 of UN members have voted for Serbia's initiative.

"From the practical point of view, independence of Kosovo is irreversible. 48 countries have recognized Kosovo as a sovereign and independent, including 22 out of 27 EU countries, and there will be more recognitions. While it is important that 48 countries have recognized Kosovo, it is also important that 144 have not made a decision yet. Therefore, Serbia's initiative makes no sense," said Basha.

According to him, the statement of Serbia that has triumphied after the approval of its resolution is a political farse.

"The backing of Serbia's initiative which seeks a non-biding opinion at ICJ on Kosovo's declaration of independence, was enabled with only of roughly 1/3 of members of UN. The fact that two thirds of UN members have abstained or voted against, did not attend, it clearly shows that the independence of Kosovo is an irreversible reality," added Basha asserting that many other countries will recognize Kosovo in the coming days.

Albanian Foreign Minister stated that the decision of UN General Assembly will not halt the process of recognitions for Kosovo independence.

"Serbia is seeking a legally non-biding opinion, making no country to abide it. Moreover, the recognition of Kosovo independence is a matter between two sovereign states. As for Serbia's  shameful morals, we all know the genocide and terror it [Serbia] has committed in the Balkans in the 20th century," said Foreign Minister of Albania, Lulzim Basha.
