European Commission and the Republic of Kosovo have signed a Financial Agreement, allocating 122.7 million Euros to Kosovo for social-economical development in accordance with the annual program of EU Commission, the Instrument for pre-membership 2008.
"€122.7 million dedicated for the projects that intent to improve the lives of Kosovar citizens are a powerful signal of our dedication to help Kosovo to join the European Union. Now, I expect that authorities of the Republic of Kosovo to secure a healthy management of economic development, continue its fiscal discipline and efficient coordination of donors to make this a successful story," said European Commissioner Olli Rehn.
The aid program of 122.7 million euros is to cover some 20 various projects, including strengthening law enforcement, protection of cultural heritage and support for media and civil society.

... "A rising tide lifts all boats." The fiinancial agreement signed is another commitment by EU nations to support the newly born country Kosovo. However, Kosovar authorities have to play their part and commit themself in being a true and a reliable partner to their allies and fulfilling their duties in full. There is no time to waste and they should prove to their citizens as well that they are capable of creating a true European country with values where every one is free and can have a prosperous future. Nevertheless, EU should come up with a plan to privitize the Kosovar economy in full. It should work closely with the local government not influence but assist them create a strong and a competitive environment for businesses. |
