Kosovo will become member of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, said the Kosovo Minister of Economy and Finance Ahmet Shala during a conference for the media after returning from the visit to Washington, where along with the governor of the Kosovo Central Bank he attended in observer’s status the annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank.
According to Shala, the process of membership is going according
to plan, and by November the committee of membership of the IMF will
state the level of shares in accordance with the economic power of our
country, expected to be similar to that of the neighboring countries
such Albania, Macedonia, or Montenegro.
"The decision by that committee will be presented to the
government of Kosovo and afterwards to the parliament for approval,"
said Shala.
Governor of the Kosovo Central Bank, Hashim Rexhepi, said that
membership in the IMF and World Bank will increase the support for
economic development, the stability of macroeconomic policies, and
development projects.
