The EU commissioner said that he hopes that by the end of next year
Serbia will become a member candidate of the EU, adding that key point
of European foreign policy in the Balkans will be Kosovo.
"The crucial point of European policy in the Balkans during the next
year will be Kosovo - the most important thing is for EULEX to be
there," Rehn is quoted by the Polish news agency PAP.
In the mean time Serbia's daily Vecerne Novosti has said that UN
Security Council will give the go ahead to the EULEX mission on 7
November.
It is not clear in what form and how will the mission be approved, through a resolution or a statement. Serb President Boris Tadic has insisted that EULEX goes through the UN. Serb nationalistic circles and Kosovo Serbs have been opposing the mission.

... To be sure, the extent of "Europe"'s willingness to let the Kosovars govern themselves will be an infallible indicator of its true political philosophy. |
