Test run for population census in Kosovo PDF Print E-mail

ImageIn five Kosovo municipalities today begins the testing phase of the population, family business and housing census.


The republican commission led by the Deputy Minister of Local Government Rifat Blaku has created the municipality commissions, which will carry on the process.

Kosovo government wants to begin the general censusing of the population in April 2009. The international community will supervise the process and EU's statistical institute Eurostat will assist the project.

Kosovo has not taken a census since 1982. Estimates by the Kosovo Statistical Office have put the population number at 2,126,708.
