ImageThe 54th NATO Parliamentary Assembly session is underway in Valencia, Spain, where a delegation of the Republic of Kosovo Parliament led by Xhavit Haliti and members of the National Security Comittee,  Naim Maloku and Slobodan Petrovic are participating with an invitation from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

This is the fourth time the Kosovo Parliament leadership speaks at the Commission for Civil Security Dimensions. Leader of the delegation Xhavit Haliti on this occasion informed the attendants of the steps the Republic of Kosovo has taken towards implementing the comprehensive plan of Martti Ahtisaari and the work the Republic of Kosovo Parliament has done towards turning the propositions of this plan into laws.

Following Haliti’s speech, the Serbian delegation protested to the chairman for allowing Haliti to speak. Chairman of the Commission for Civil Security Dimensions Michael Clapham from the United Kingdom read the regulation, which points out the right of speaking.

At the meeting of this commission, the report dubbed “Kosovo and the Future of Security in the Balkans” prepared by Vitalino Cannas from Portugal. Cannas had also prepared a draft-resolution on Kosovo and it was adopted by the Commission with some amendments.

The final version of the draft-resolution is expected to be voted on at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly session, which will be held on Tuesday.

Xhavit Haliti asked for the support of members of parliaments from the NATO countries to embody a plan for Kosovo’s soon NATO integration. During bilateral meetings with members of parliaments from various countries, Haliti said that Kosovo is and will remain a stability factor in the region.

The Republic of Kosovo is a country located in Southeastern Europe.
