Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Alfredo Mantika during a special visit to Kosovo yesterday, said that "Italy is responsible as the other EU nations to support and respect the Ahtisaari plan."
The Italian Deputy Foreign Minister during a meeting with President of Kosovo Fatmir Sejdiu and Kosovo Foreign Minister Hyseni said that the position of Italy is very clear regarding Kosovo.
"Italy has recognized the Republic of Kosovo as a sovereign and independent nation and has established diplomatic and bilateral relations. Italy will always support Kosovo in all development and integration processes. Our position is very clear," said the Italian diplomat.
Speaking of the deployment of the EULEX, Mantika said "As we have recognized the independence of Kosovo, and we are responsible for everything it is written in the document of Ahtisaari. A harmonious political language must be found to deploy the EULEX mission in accordance to the Ahtisaari plan and sovereign Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo."
Meanwhile, President Sejdiu during the meeting emphasized that for Kosovars is very important to have a
strong cooperation with the US and the EU during the development processes. "Particularly we are determined to retain a continuous commitment, supporting and respecting the EULEX mission, in which the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo have clearly accepted in accordance with the Ahtisaari Plan and the sovereign Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo," said Kosovar President Sejdiu.
"We have no other position. The deployment of EULEX is very important. Six-point plan is entirely unacceptable. We will continue to cooperate with all international factors for the well-being of the country and full sovereignty. We intentd to deploy the EULEX in the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo in accordance with our Constitution and Ahtisaari plan, and proceed towards the European integration," said President Sejdiu.
