Tens of thousands of Kosovars disgruntled with the manner of deployment of the new EULEX mission have protested again today in the capital Prishtina.

The leader of Vetëvendosje! Movement Albin Kurti addressing the crowd said that EULEX will be met with demonstrations and opposition in Kosovo, whereas the UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier, who led some of the talks between UN and Serbia over the six-point plan, in this demonstration was announced non-grata by the crowd. Kurti demanded that UNMIK leave Kosovo immediately.

"Dear citizens, don't trust statements of politicians, documents are important, politicians come and go, documents remain. The newest document is the six-point of Ban Ki Moon. With it, Serbia's parallel structures are accepted," said Kurti to laud cheers from the crowd.

Similar to UNMIK, EULEX is a neocolonial occupation force made in Serbia, were some of the other accusations. The speakers asked UNMIK chief to move to Serbia.

Avni Zogiani from the anti-corruption organization “Çohu” was direct in his doubts of the determination of Kosovo leaders to stop the six-point plan. “Kosovo President and Prime Minister are lying – compromise after compromise wickedness does not stop,” said Zogiani.

Some of the slogans were "EULEX-UNMIK pick up and leave," "Go to Serbia, Lamberto Zanierović," "Against six points, for sovregnity," "Hashim [Thaçi] – good looking and traitorous."

The demonstration began in front of the National Library in Prishtina to continue towards the UNMIK, now EULEX, building where the organizers addressed the crowd.

Xhafer Xhaveri, from the Joint Independent Unions of Kosovo, the umbrella organization for Kosovo unions and a new member to the coalition of protesting organizations, demanded development and accused that the new political arrangements will hold Kosovar economy back.  

At the end, demonstrators threw their banners in the garden of the Kosovo Parliament.

 

The organizers said they will continue massive demonstrations and opposition until EULEX is deployed based on the Republic of Kosovo Constitution.
