Bush, Sejdiu and Thaçi ruin Christmas PDF Print E-mail

ImageA calendar with pictures of George W. Bush, Fatmir Sejdiu and Hashim Thaçi which was placed in a cabin inside the yard of the “Sveti Sava” church in Mitrovica ruined the celebration of Serbs who came to this temple on Wednesday for the Christmas Liturgy.

Priest Milija Arsovic could not finish the liturgy without commenting on what he called a provocative incident. But when making his comments, he confused current American President Bush with his predecessor Bill Clinton.

“Today we witness another event, apart from all the violence and problems that our population is going through…as soon as we entered the yard we ran into Clinton’s pictures and pictures of those who want Kosova to be independent,” he said.

The angriest seems to have been Marijan Ilincic – a 59 year-old from Mitrovica – who stared for several minutes at the cabin door where the calendar was placed.

“This is a true provocation and an attack on the Serbian population,” he said. “This is a place where only church photos should be, photos which serve God.”

Ilincic was not so angry that photos of Kosova President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi were present in the calendar. His dissatisfaction reached the highest point because of the fact that the photo of George W. Bush was in the calendar.

“Bush’s photo should not be here. We have no problems with the other two, they are part of Serbia,” he said while alluding to Sejdiu and Thaçi. Ilincic was also angry about the flags in the background of the calendar’s photos. The American and Kosovar flags were on the top while the Albanian flag was on the bottom.

“The flags on top should not be here either, apart from the Albanian one,” said the Serb from Mitrovica. “The Albanian flag can be here, it is not a problem. The other two flags no.”
