The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Mahir Yagcilar, traveled today to Istanbul to represent the Republic of Kosovo and will sign on behalf of Kosovo, an agreement for rightful usage of water and other important policies.

 

"This is the first time that Kosovo is represented at such forums," informs the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning through a press release.

The Ministry informs that "The World's Day of Waters" in Kosovo will be celebrated on March 22, with the motto, "The waters that overpass the boarders that unite us".

"The protection and rational use of waters is one of the objectives of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. Therefore, by protecting our water resources, we secure a better future", Minister Yagcilar said.

The Fifth Forum of World Waters, which is taking place in Istanbul, was opened in a ceremonial manner by Turkish President, Avdullah Gul. During the next three days, many meetings will take place at the Forum between ministries and government representatives of many nations.


The World Waters Forums, which are held every three years, intent to establish a worldwide policy aiming for the water resources to be used in a rightful and humane way and create future plans for the use of water resources by protecting the environment.

The members of the Forum, including Kosovo, will sign an agreement for proper use of water resources and the caution that the the countries' governments must take to preserve the water resources for the future generations.
