The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Valton Beqiri, hosted the director of the Archaeological Institute of Frankfurt and Germany's representative for Archaeological Heritage, Dr. Friedrich Lüeth.
On this occasion, Dr. Lüeth handed over a report to Minister Beqiri on scientific research of geophysical archaeological site of the ancient town of Ulpiana which is made pursuant to a cooperation memorandum signed in February of 2008 by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Kosovo and the Institute Archeology of Frankfurt (Germany).
Recordings have included more than 25% of the surface of this ancient site and all investments are supported by this institute. In addition, Dr. Lüeth announced to Minister Beqiri the possibility of security software, GIS (Geographic Information System) from this institute, which will enable the integration of database for the creation of the archaeological heritage digital system of the archaeological map of Kosovo.
Minister Beqiri thanked Dr. Lüeth for the commitment respectively given by the Archaeological Institute of Frankfurt, in the past year, to the ancient locality "Ulpiana. Beqiri also stressed that MCYS will support any initiative to promote further work in implementing the full program of archaeological research.

Ulpiana was one of the most important Kosovar Albanian cultural cities in ancient and medieval Kosovo. It was the capital of Dardania (Kosovo) kingdom until it fell under Roman empire. The writer of the ancient Albanian Code of Honor, Prince Lekë Dukagjini was born in Ulpiana in 1410. Ulpiana is located 15 miles southeast of Prishtina, capital of Kosovo.
