ImageToday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recognized the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign country, informs the Saudi Arabia Foreign Ministry.

"In accordance with religious and cultural ties with the people of Kosovo, and in a sign of respect for the will of the people of Kosovo to gain independence, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announces the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo and hopes that this development will contribute positively to improving security and stability in Kosovo and its neighboring countries, "said the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia becomes the 58th country to recognize Kosovo as indepedent and sovereign.

Saudi Arabia is an Arab country and the largest country of the Arabian Peninsula. It has an estimated population of 27.6 million, and its size is approximately 2,150,000 square kilometres (830,000 sq mi).

No I did say and mean Iraq. They will not recognise Kosovo any time soon. Yes they may be a US puppet state, however Iraq has a big problems with Kurds. Iraq will not recognise any time soon.
Another reason why I was not talking about Iran is because I was talking about Arab states. Iran is not an Arab sate. Only a few small pockets of Arabs live in Iran near the boarder to Iraq. Iran will also not recognise Kosovo anytime soon either.
Also you said that Tunisia is Morocco's backyard. I think you meant that Tunisia is Algeria's backyard. Morocco and Tunis do not share a common boarder. Italy has good relations with Tunisia at the moment. I would not be "surprised" if Tunisia or Algeria recognise Kosovo. I would if Morocco recognised since they have there own problems in the Western Sahara.

@Ian:

I guess you meant IRAN not Iraq will not recognize Dardania soon,since Iraq nowadays is a US puppet state and don't have other choice but recognizing,liking it or not.

@Fatih

Tunisia is Morocco's Backyard,they will follow wathever Morocco does.I just don't understand why Algeria don't want to recognize,since they support West Sahara independence movement and Kosova's worldwide recognition would give hope to West Sahara's case...

i agree with Ian but i am not sure about Tunisia and Iraq.they might recognize Kosova after a few more Arab states do...The USA and Turkey has good relations with Iraq.the only thing they are scarred of is its own breakaway region kurdistan.when the time comes Iraq will recognize Kosova

Not all Arab states will follow. I predict that Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Jordan, Kuwait, Comoros and Lebanon will be the only "expected" follow up recognitions.

Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco ect will not recognise Kosovo any time soon.

Anyway thank you Saudi Arabia.

I hope to see Saudi Arabia encourage more of the OIC and OPEC member states to do the same. In a religious moral sense to the OIC and an economically beneficial sense to the OPEC.

With Saudi and UAE among those recognising Kosovo, the path is now open for other Gulf States to recognise Kosovo. I believe the President of Kosovo must now apply to become member of OIC: Current Secretary General of OIC is from Turkey - so, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, Maldives, Senegal, Gambia and Afghanistan can co-spsonsor the application of Kosovo for membership of OIC. Next meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers is in Damascus in June.
