The membership of Republic of Kosovo in International Monetary Fund will have political and economical effects in the development of the new Balkan state. The membership in the International Monetary Fund is considered very important for the Republic of Kosovo in the political level, as well as in the economy.
Experts state that membership in this international institution will rank the Republic of Kosovo among the countries with international economic weight.
The membership of Republic of Kosovo in the international montary mechanism, according to Kosovo officials, experts on economic issue and economy representatives in Prishtina, will create economic certainty, will enhance the image of Kosovo in the financial markets and foreign investors will have much higher confidence to participate in the Kosovo market.
Economy experts estimate that the acceptance of the Republic of Kosovo in the IMF is very important both in political and economic terms. Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies-GAP, Shprend Ahmeti, considers Kosovo's membership in this international institution as the recognition of Kosovo's statehood by an important international institution.
Kosovo Central Bank Governor, Hashim Rexhepi, stresses that the role of the IMF is extremly important in the macroeconomic stability of Kosovo, in providing assistance in the structureal reforms and or the possibility of acquiring various loans for economic development of Kosovo.
Membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the IMF, according to Mr Rexhepi also creates major liability, but, simultaneously, he adds, creates space for the use of more powerful experience in that Fund for economic development in the future.
President of the Economic Chamber of Kosovo, Besim Beqaj estimates that Kosovo's membership in this institution, is confirmation of the international community to support the development of Kosovo.
Professor of international finance, Safet Merovci, considering that after the membership, Kosovo now overseen directly by the IMF. Simultaneously, this demonstrates that the Republic of Kosovo has economic and political weight in the world, he stresses.
On the other hand, representatives of the Institute for Development Research RIIVENST consider that Kosovo's membership in these international financial organizations, is important because it, according to them, shows that Kosovo will promote its negotiating position with these organizations and will become an equal partner in the international community.
Representative of the Institute, Muhamet Sadiku, says Kosovo this membership has become part of the international financial system and, as he says, is a good sign towards the path of joining the European Union family.

"Kosovo, with its membership in the IMF, and clarifies its international position, become part of the decision in this international institution, increase the capacity of the IMF and the possibility of an intervention on përmbajtjesor as in terms of providing technical assistance to government Kosovo, which is quite necessary. Will also affect the improvement of governance in public finance and especially in increasing the performance of structural reforms that Kosovo must achieve in the coming years, "explains Mr Sadiku.
The chariman of the American-Kosovar Chamber of Commerce, Mimoza Kusari Lila, says that after the membership, Kosovo will have access to 184 countries as members of the IMF.
Out of the 185 member countries, about 100 of them have voted for the acceptance of Kosovo in the IMF. The outcome of the vote today will be presented to the Executive Board of Directors, and will be officially revealed on Friday.
Important to note that the Republic of Kosovo is recognized as a sovereignt state by the International Monetary Fund during the process of membership.
Meanwhile, the voting process for membership of Kosovo in the World Bank will be completed on June 3.
