For the first time in Kosovo, supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kosovo, the Friday's show in Prishtina, premiers the ballet theatrical "Carmen" with choreographers Sylvia and Sergeev Arendar Tomov from Bulgaria.

Director of the Ballet Theater, Ahmet Brahimaj, stated that "we have taken on a difficult project, and we are satisfied that we are witnessing a great achievement on a technical and artistic level."

While choreographer Sylvia Tomov states that the performance is very difficult, she expects the dedication of the artists to give the best performance is very important.  Tomov stresses that the first touchstone of the show is a combination of role, artistic interpretation, and style. This ballet is a contemporary style of the story, mixed with Carmen's story and the present. Tomov praised the work of the artists in the ballet and with the support of the state, she believes that there will be competitors in the region very soon. "I am very satisfied with their hard work, motivation, and the strength of the ballerinas. The show provides an opportunity to achieve even more," said choreographer Sergeev Arendar.

The original story of Carmen is set in Seville, Spain, around 1830, and concerns the eponymous Carmen, a beautiful woman with a fiery temper. Free with her love, she woos the corporal Don José, an inexperienced soldier. Their relationship leads to his rejection of his former love, mutiny against his superior, and joining a clandestine gang. His jealousy when she turns from him to the bullfighter Escamillo, leads to the murder of Carmen.

From the opening, the ballet is infused with the traditions and mysteries of Spain and the belief in the power of Fate. From the midst of the group, emerges one man and one woman whom Fate binds together, sealing their destiny with a flower.

Since the 1880s, it has been one of the world's most performed artistic treasures.

Interpreters of the main roles are Luljeta Ademi, Behie Murtezi, Sinan Kajtazi, Vjollca Llugiqi, Leonora, and Rexhepi. The ballet show will take place at the National Theater of Kosovo in Prishtina.

"Carmen" is a show dedicated to all those who passionately defend their freedom of believing in the integrity of love and spirit.
