EU has conditioned the visa liberalization policy that "Serbia can no longer issue passports to Kosovar citizens," writes the Belgrade daily, Danas on Friday citing a reliable Serbian government source.

However, Serbia government continues to sell diplomatic passports illegally to people from neighboring Kosovo with large sums of money, mostly to smugglers and people involved in criminal activity who have economic interests with their counterparts in Serbia and elsewhere.

Some Kosovars to secure Schengen visas are getting Serbian addresses, including one ( a smuggler) who has shown a Serbian biometric diplomatic passport to NewKosovaReport staff, which he was able to buy with over 1000 Euros from Serbian officials.

According to Danas newspaper's source, the decision has been taken following the consultations with the EU commission regarding the problems where the decision has been reached that "Serbia cannot issue passports to Kosovo due to the problems which countries-members of the Schengen agreement could have with illegal immigration,"writes the daily.

Meanwhile, the diplomatic sources confirm that the EU will consider invalid any Serbia passports issued to the Kosovar citizens who have continues residence in the Republic of Kosovo.
