On the invitation of the Turkish Military, a delegation of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) led by the Chief of the Kosovar General Staff, Lieutenant-General Sylejman Selimi visited Ankara, where they received a warm welcome from the General Staff of the Turkish Army.
Selimi held a bilateral meeting with Chief of the Turkish General Staff, Lieutenant-General, İlker Başbuğ. Following friendly talks, they agreed to step up cooperation between the Kosovar and Turkish militaries.
During their visit, the delegation visited anti-terrorism, peace, communications and aviation units, in addition to the military academy and aviation industry facilities.
Selimi received assurances from his hosts that Turkey would unsparingly assist the KSF in building up to its full capacity. They reiterated to him that Turkey fully supports Kosovo's aspirations for NATO membership.
The KSF is a professional force that is politically neutral, multi-ethnic and lightly armed, as befits its role as the security force of a small, peaceful sovereign state.
